About Me

My name is Erik Zorn and I am from a small beach town on the coast of Maryland called Ocean City. I have always had a passion for the maths and sciences, whether it be in or out of schoolwork. Growing up I was exposed to a lot of important problem solving skills though my older brother and father who both studied engineering in college. My influences growing up led me to study Computer Science at the Univeristy of South Carolina Honors College. While at U of SC, the curriciulum, personal projects, and 3 summer internships helped to foster a greater appreciation for computing. After graduation, I became a Software Engineer with Xandr (formerly AppNexus). At Xandr I develop microservices in Python, Javascript, and Go and leverage big data technologies such as Kafka and Spark (Scala). As I have developed my CS foundation, I have found great satisfaction in optimizing code efficiency and elegancy. Gaining knowlege in computer architecture has made these properties more meaningful to me. I look forward to continuing to develop as a programmer in the next few years, and I am very excited about what the future has to offer.
